Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my living experiences through my job, relationships, lifestyle choices, travel, and general thoughts. I'm looking forward to getting acquainted!

Lady at Work

For those of you who may not know, I work for a tech company in Houston. We offer a software interface to enable hardware manufacturing. I've been working as somewhat of a program manager for about year now with the company's new high volume production department. It's a start up company so I wear multiple hats (you can actually read a bit about it here). The fast paced challenges that are presented at startups have been the best and worst parts of my job. Yet the major successes I take away from the work are tremendous. Even on the days I struggled the most, I developed more than I realized.

I’m in the swing of a developing career and too early to provide much advice outside of “take risks”.

Taking risks is the only way to achieve upwards mobility in your work opportunities. It’s that philosophy that got me to where I am today; a job in a pay grade I never thought possible, with a larger say in a growing business, and in a completely different field than what my degree focused on. Doing so, launched me into a completely new segment of life and overall has been an odd mixture of thrilling and confronting. My initial introduction was stress ridden and a daily struggle trying to find words to speak for myself. Today, I find myself looking forward to what previously gave me stress and seeing the silver lining in tough situations that I swear hadn’t been there before. I take the role day by day now and it’s given my such an incredible sense of power in the work place.

I think my company is pretty unique. It’s a cool opportunity that I get to work with software and hardware. In addition, because of the startup lifestyle and what I’ve taken on in my role I’ve learned some serious life and business lessons so early on in. I’m looking forward to documenting these workplace triumphs and sharing as much as I can.
